Environment Artist (Montpellier, France or remote)

Are you a talented Environment Artist with a passion for creating immersive worlds? We have an exciting opportunity for you! Rooted is seeking a skilled Environment Artist to join our growing team and help shape the landscape of our unique survival game. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, and the compensation will be based on your experience. Freelancers are welcome.

As an Environment Artist at Rooted, you'll collaborate with our dedicated team to design and create stunning, realistic environments that immerse players in our dynamic world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and model high-quality 3D assets, including terrain, foliage, and architectural elements
  • Collaborate with our team to ensure consistency and quality across our game environments
  • Optimize assets for efficient performance without compromising visual quality

Requirements:

  • Experience as an Environment Artist in the gaming industry
  • Strong understanding of modern game engines, preferably Unreal Engine
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Maya or Blender
  • Experience with PBR texturing and materials
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team environment

Pluses:

  • Experience working on survival or open-world games
  • Knowledge of procedural asset creation tools, such as Substance Designer or Houdini
  • Understanding of level design and optimization techniques

Game Developer (Montpellier, France or remote)

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Game Developer to join our growing team at Rooted. If you are passionate about building innovative gameplay experiences and have a strong background in game development, we'd love to hear from you! This position is remote, and compensation will depend on experience. Freelancers are welcome.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement game features, mechanics, and systems
  • Collaborate with the design, art, and programming teams to ensure smooth integration of gameplay elements
  • Debug and optimize game code for maximum performance and stability
  • Participate in the game design process, providing technical insights and creative input
  • Communicate effectively with the team to ensure project goals and deadlines are met

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of professional experience in game development
  • Strong programming skills in Blueprint
  • Knowledge of multiplayer game development and networking
  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • Understanding of game development best practices and design patterns
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills

Technical Artist specializing in Houdini and Unreal Engine (Montpellier, France or remote)

We are seeking a passionate, experienced Technical Artist to join our dynamic team on the post-apocalyptic survival game project, Rooted. The ideal candidate will have expertise in procedural generation techniques in Houdini and Unreal Engine, with a particular focus on creating roads, buildings, and other environmental features. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, and the compensation will be based on your experience. Freelancers are welcome.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain procedural generation pipelines for creating environmental assets, such as roads and buildings, using Houdini.
  • Collaborate closely with the Art and Design team to ensure that procedurally generated assets align with the game's aesthetic and objectives.
  • Ensure the seamless integration of procedurally generated assets into Unreal Engine.
  • Identify and resolve any technical issues related to procedural generation and asset integration.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, sharing knowledge on best practices in procedural generation.

Requirements:

  • Previous professional experience as a Technical Artist or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Houdini for procedural asset generation.
  • Demonstrable experience working with Unreal Engine.
  • Familiarity with shader architecture and graphics programming.
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English or French, both written and verbal.

Pluses:

  • Prior experience in the gaming industry, particularly with open-world games.
  • Experience with other game development tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Perforce).
